Samsung Galaxy S25 series has support for seamless updates | Infinium-tech
The rumors were true – Samsung’s flagship smartphone line finally supports seamless updates with the release of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Korean company has been a holdout for several years and finally implemented this functionality in the Galaxy A55 last year.
We assume this was to test the waters, and apparently everything has been fine with the A55, so now the feature has finally come to the S line. “Uninterrupted Update” means that your device will be unavailable for use for a short period of time while it is being updated.
This is because the update is applied when the device is turned on, and it is installed on the partition that the OS is currently using. Then, when the installation is complete, you are asked to reboot the device, at which point it boots with the newly updated software. This means that the reboot process itself is much faster, as it is basically just a little longer than a normal reboot.
Whereas before, without seamless updates, you had to wait for the software to install and couldn’t use your phone while it did. So this is one of those small improvements in quality of life that won’t be front and center on any store display, but is welcome nonetheless. The only strange thing about this is that it took Samsung more than eight years to get on this bandwagon (Google introduced seamless updates to Android in 2016).
