Samsung Galaxy A26 vs. Galaxy A36 | Infinium-tech
The new Galaxy A series is here and if you want to upgrade your old budget device, especially if it is Samsung, both Samsung Galaxy A26 and Samsung Galaxy A36 are both very intelligent options. If, for whatever reason, you want to live with Samsung’s ecosystem, then these two phones should definitely be on your list.
The difference between the two is about € 80 in the European Union, but in fact, third-party stores have already reduced the price and it is more like € 40–50. In the UK, this is a different situation because Samsung has much better control over retail pricing and the current price difference between the two is a £ 100. This is about the same situation in the US where the difference is $ 100.
In any case, the selection between two brothers and sisters is a valid dilemma, so let’s try to solve it.

For the beginning, you can compare full glasses sheets or continue with the evaluation of our editor directly In the following text.
Size comparison
Although both devices provide the same screen diagonal, the Galaxy A36 is quite more compact. Sure, it is slightly wide, but it is smaller and thinner than the A26 from a sensible amount. They also weigh almost the same. The main reason is the possibility of bezels. The Galaxy A26 has a quite thick bezel.
When it comes to quality, design and making ingrace protection, two phones are the same. You get the protection of IP67 water and dust in any way, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ Sheets protect the front and back, while the frame is both plastic on the phone.
Display comparison
At first glance, the Galaxy A26 and A36 have similar displays. This, at least, what the glasses suggest. The same diagonal, the same resolution, the same refresh rate, the same HDR support (only in YouTube). In addition to visual symptoms, of course. The A36 has a punch-hole selfie camera and very thin bezels, while the A26 adopts the notch of a dated teardial-style with thick bezels around.
According to our tests, the performance of the Galaxy A36 is quite bright. It was at the peak all around 1,200 NitsWhile A26 was also not found 800 NitsThe Galaxy A36 is a clear winner in this category, which provides a much more comfortable outdoor viewing experience.
battery life
Given the active use score only, the Galaxy A36 comes to the top, but the difference is not clear. Depending on your use pattern, you can also get the same overall battery endurance from two devices. If your primary use case is web browsing and social media, the A36 will provide too much runTime. If gaming is your favorite pastime, the Galaxy A26 will offer better battery life.
Charging speed
Neither the phone is especially sharp to charge, but the Galaxy A36 is definitely faster of both. It now supports 45W fast charging compared to the 25W cap on the Galaxy A26. This allows the device to be charged quite rapidly in the first 30 minutes of the charging cycle, but it is only 12 minutes faster for the finish line.
In any case, if fast charging is a priority feature, then definitely go for Galaxy A36 (plus a compatible fast charger and cable).
Speaker test
The Galaxy A36 goes to both loudness and overall speaker quality. And this is not surprising. The A36 is a set of hybrid stereo speakers, while Samsung decided to dow the speaker setup of the A26 into only one bottom-faceing loudspeaker.
Despite the slightly distorted tone and high in high volume, the sound quality of A36 is very good for its orbit. It offers deep, warm-ridicized tracks with more prominent bass than A26.
Display
Memory configurations are very similar, both start from 128GB and go up to 256GB storage, but A26 starts with only 4GB of RAM, while A36 becomes 6GB by default. This may not look like a big thing, but the additional RAM on A36 may be useful in a long time. Having more RAM can be seen as future proofing.
This year, the Galaxy A26 is getting the Exynos 1380 SoC that operated the Galaxy A35 a year ago, while the A36 now sports an upgraded Snapdragon 6 General 3 chip. But the overall performance is not all different. The benchmark results reveal the entire picture.
Benchmark performance
As you can see, the difference in raw performance is not large. The Snapdragon 6 GEN 3 of A36 provides an increase in performance at exynos 1380 in the Gen 3 combined and pure CPU scenarios. The GPU test shows more noticeable performance benefits with 15% jump, according to the Wildlife Extreme Benchmark landscape of the GPU test 3 demark.
Camera comparison
Both handsets share the same camera hardware, but there is a small advantage of the Galaxy A36. The main 50MP sensor is large, dedicated macro shooter is 5MP instead of 2MP and can record a 12MP selfie camera 4K video. The 13MP front-faceing camera of A26 is capted on 1080p@30fps.
For ultravide, it is similar to both devices.
image quality
A slight difference is detected by shoulder to shoulder than two main cameras. You must really look closely to see that A36 has an advantage in the context of acuity, fine expansion and perhaps dynamic range on A26. A36 produces stils with a slightly comprehensive dynamic range and more natural shade.

There is less noticeable difference even at night, but A36 receives good opposite and vibrant colors.
The larger main sensor on Galaxy A36 is a clear superiority on the 50MP shooter of A26 in 2x zoom mode. A36 makes faster and more detailed photos.

When it comes to ultravide, two tools provide very different rendering, and we prefer A26 better. Not only are ultravide shots sharper of A26, they are also with more accurate colors. Ultravide of A36 has a warm color temperature, which transforms grass and leaf into yellow scavenges.

video quality
Below we have some framegrabs from videos taken by two phones at each focal length, so it is easy to compare each other.
For our surprise, the main camera of the Galaxy A26 provides a better dynamic range. The footage of A36 has a slightly better definition but has a dark shade.
The ultravide camera of the Galaxy A26 also has a better dynamic range, and this time, the footage is slightly faster and more wide.
Video screengrabs: A26 FHD 0.6X • A36 FHD 0.6X • A26 4K 1x • A36 4K 1x • A26 4K 1x • A36 4K 1x
We cannot find a noticeable difference in low-light footage, except that the A26 captures better colors and its exposure is better to avoid clipping the metering highlights. Keep in mind that the Galaxy A36 provides stabilization in 4K resolution, while the EIS capabilities of the Galaxy A26 are capted at 1080p.
Decision
As you can see, the Galaxy A36 defeats A26 in almost all departments. It has a bright performance, better speaker, long battery life, slightly sharp charging, a sharp chipset, an under-display fingerprint reader and even ESIM support.
Two phones trade in the camera department, and the Galaxy A26 offers a microSD slot.
A36 is objectively the better phone of both and we will happily recommend receiving it on A26. And with a low difference in € 40–50 in the European Union, it all makes sense. However, in the US and the UK, there is a huge value difference, so if your purchase decision is strongly value-sensitive or if you need a completely microSD slot, you can be better with Galaxy A25 as it will provide you the same user experience while saving some cash.
