Samsung allegedly redesigned the Galaxy S26 to hit a specific price point | Infinium-tech
A few days ago, a report surfaced alleging that Samsung has changed the dimensions of the upcoming Galaxy S26. Initially its thickness was considered to be 6.9 mm, but later it was adjusted to 7.24 mm. It seemed strange, but today a new report from the Korean company house explains why.
Obviously Apple is to blame for this. Notably, the fact that the Cupertino company has priced the iPhone 17 at $799 in the US has not increased its price compared to its predecessor. Samsung wants the S26 to cost exactly the same, which is why it reportedly had to make it thicker than initially envisioned.

Not only this, the battery will also be damaged. Samsung wanted to give it a 4,900 mAh cell, but to save money it was reduced to 4,300 mAh. So, if this is true, Samsung assumed that Apple would raise the price of the iPhone 17, and the Korean company wanted to reach the same price while offering an upgraded battery capacity and a slimmer body.
But since Apple didn’t increase the price of the iPhone 17, Samsung couldn’t introduce those upgrades without increasing the price of the S26 compared to the S25, and since it really doesn’t want to unfairly align the price of the S26 with the iPhone 17, it decided to skip the upgrades. It’s certainly an interesting strategy.
The Galaxy S26+ is said to have the same thickness and battery capacity as its predecessor, while the S26 Ultra fits the same 5,000 mAh battery as the S25 Ultra in a 0.3 mm thinner shell. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will come with Samsung Display’s “Flex Magic Pixel” technology, which lets you set up a privacy screen electronically, without the need to install an additional film.
