About four months ago, Apple found itself in a peculiar position as Indonesia implemented a sales ban on its iPhone 16 series in the country. Cupertino Indonesia’s strict investment failed to meet the commitments, which requires a local source of up to 40% of the device components. According to a new Nikkei talk Report, Apple is now interacting with supply chain partners to establish iPhone assembly lines in Indonesia to meet the needs of the local government.

If everything happens according to the plan, Indonesia will become the first country in Southeast Asia with iPhone construction facilities. Indonesia is the largest economy in the region, and the couple iPhone production will give a real boost to its technical manufacturing industry.

Apple-Indonesia Saga began in October when the iPhone 16 series and Watch 10 series devices were placed under the sale ban. Apple initially committed to invest $ 109 million in local R&D features, but those investment reached only $ 95 million. Following the sale of sale ban, Apple gave an additional $ 10 million and a new factory in the Bondung region, which would build goods and components for Apple devices.
