Huawei continues to lead the Chinese foldable market by a huge margin, Honor follows | Infinium-tech
According to the latest IDC report, Huawei led the Chinese foldable market with a very comfortable margin in the first three quarters (January to September), gaining a whopping 68.9% share. In second place is Honor with 11.2% market share, followed by Vivo with 5%, Oppo with 4.9% and Samsung with 4.3%.
It’s interesting to see Samsung making the top five here as it has long been a rounding error in the Chinese market in overall smartphone sales. But apparently Chinese people love the Galaxy Z Fold7. The foldable smartphone market in China reached 2.63 million units in the third quarter, up 17.8% compared to the third quarter of 2024.

If we look at the first three quarters combined, total shipments reached 7.62 million units, up 14.3% compared to the same period last year. With this data, IDC predicts “approximately” 10 million shipments for the full year.
IDC says foldables are on their way to transforming from niche toys to mainstream devices, at least for early adopters in the Chinese market, especially due to advances in thinness and lightness compared to the previous generation.
