Huawei Chairman promises expanded satellite connectivity across cheaper phones and watches | Infinium-tech
Richard Yu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Huawei Consumer Business Group, has some good news for fans of both the brand and satellite connectivity. He promised that Huawei will expand satellite connectivity to lower-priced devices, so it won’t be limited to just high-end models.
This will be a new chapter in the company’s journey, and it is necessary because, according to Yu, mobile networks do not cover enough of the world. Thus, connectivity conflicts still exist. So, satellite technology is the solution.

Yu also promised that affordable smartwatches will come with satellite connectivity, which will gradually become a standard feature. The service that Huawei will provide will allow sending and receiving texts, not just in case of emergencies.

Yu says Huawei has developed AI encoding and decoding to make it easier to transmit voice messages via satellites. With AI technology, the encoder compresses the message, then the decoder restores the data to its original format.
