Honor unveils MagicOS 9.0 – its take on Android 15 | Infinium-tech

Honor unveiled MagicOS 9.0 in China a week before announcing its Magic7 flagship series. It called it the world’s first all-scenario personal AI operating system and emphasized the deep integration of Yoyo voice assistant or AI agent as they call it.

On Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0, it will work on multiple applications using Honor’s proprietary language model MagicLM. The company claims it will understand natural language and computer vision, as well as learn from your habits and be context aware.

In-app operation will let it order coffee for you like a human assistant. It will make the purchase itself, and verify payment with a prompt.

While the new 3B parameter model has fewer parameters than the previous 7B on-device model, MagicLM here should bring 80% lower power consumption, 77% faster loading speed, and 500% faster word output speed; All this means a reduction of 1.8 GB in storage and 1.6 GB in RAM consumption.

MagicOS 9.0 comes with the industry’s first AI deepfake detection feature to further protect users against scams.

Design-wise, the OS brings new features like Versatile Desktop, Magic Lock Screen, and Magic Style to completely customize your experience. It also has AI Gallery, AI Eraser, Face Restoration, and AI Image Expansion.

Honor has already confirmed that three dozen devices will get the new update along with the rollout timeline. However, this is for the Chinese market, meaning international units will have to wait a little longer.

We expect MagicOS 9.0 to roll out globally with the international launch of Magic7 phones in the first months of 2025. That’s when we’ll know more about the global rollout of the OS and when internationally available devices will get it.
