Google trolls Apple on its late adoption of RCS in new video ad | Infinium-tech
The latest ad in the #BestPhonesForever series has now surfaced, and Google is once again trolling Apple. Or rather, to be more specific, trolling a Pixel iPhone. They’re #BestPhonesForever, and Google is using this format to mock Apple’s mobile devices in a variety of ways.
This time, it’s all about RCS. After years of pressure from Google, Apple has adopted the messaging standard with the release of iOS 18 earlier this week. So now iPhones and Android devices can finally share high-quality photos and videos with each other via text.
This, of course, is mainly relevant in the US, where people have embraced texting as their main means of communication, and have not used WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook Messenger. There are complex reasons for this, including the integration of text messaging into phone plans, which has been in place in the US much earlier than in other parts of the world.
But still, we digress. This video, like all the other videos in this series, tries too hard to be funny, and whether or not it succeeds depends on where you stand on the iOS vs Android divide. For us, there’s a lot of embarrassment here, but some people enjoy it.
