Google starts rolling out Android 15 beta 4 to eligible Pixel devices | Infinium-tech
Owners of Pixel phones (starting with the 6-series), Pixel Fold, or Pixel tablets can experience the fourth (and final) beta of Android 15 starting today. The release of the stable version is scheduled for August 13, which is also said to be the day of the announcement of the Pixel 9 series (there is also a new Fold).
Android 15 Beta 2 added new features like Private Spaces, a more efficient AV1 video decoder, and more. Beta 3 then finalized the APIs so app developers could start testing against the newly added features and the old ones. That doesn’t leave much for Beta 4.
The only notable change is that Google has removed the PNG-based emoji font. Since Android 13, the system has supported vector emojis, but the old PNG version of the font was retained for compatibility reasons. This way, app developers had enough time to move to the new vector format.
Apps targeting Android 15 can now be made available on the Google Play Store, so any users with the beta OS installed can download the new versions. Or you can wait a few more weeks for a stable release.
The list of supported devices is as follows:
Of course, each manufacturer will announce its own Android 15 rollout plans. For example, Samsung is already testing One UI 7.0 internally, OnePlus has released Beta 12 for the OnePlus 2 and OpenSUSE is testing on the Honor Magic 6 Pro and Magic V2.
