Google reveals how many devices are already running Android 16 | Infinium-tech
Google released Android 16 for its Pixel lineup in June last year, so we’re now more than seven months away from that moment. Meanwhile, many other Android device manufacturers have released Android 16 updates for their products, and so you might be wondering how many devices are running the latest version of the OS.
Thankfully, Google has once again updated its Android version distribution chart. Although just updated, the data is as of December 1, 2025. So keep in mind that the percentage of devices running Android 16 today is definitely at least somewhat higher.

As you can see, out of all active Android devices, 7.5% run Android 16. As always, this is pathetic compared to Apple’s adoption rate for new iOS versions, but context is important – Android is a much more open ecosystem, with dozens of companies producing hundreds if not thousands of devices. Thus, releasing Android updates is a far more complex affair, and it has always been that way.

The leading Android version in terms of adoption is Android 15 with 19.3% pie, followed by Android 14 with 17.2% and Android 13 with 13.9%. Android 16 is only in seventh place, overtaking Android 11, Android 12, and Android 10 in that order.
Naturally, these percentages will change in the coming months, with Android 16 increasing further.
