Google Pixel 9 Pro XL teardown reveals dual-entry design and fiddly battery removal process | Infinium-tech
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL has received the teardown treatment from iFixit. The video below shows off the phone’s dual-entry design that lets you perform repairs from both the screen side and the back of the phone.
This means that it will be easier to remove a broken screen than one that only enters the device from the back, although as the iFixit host demonstrated, you will still need to be extra careful with the new Pixel as its display layers are likely to separate which automatically destroys the panel.
If you need to replace the battery or any other internal component, you can perform the repair from the back. The biggest drawback of the Pixel 9 Pro XL case is that the battery is held in place by a sliding pull tab, making it very difficult to remove. The battery is difficult to remove and the display is fragile, so the Pixel 9 Pro XL gets a 5/10 provisional repairability score.
