Google finally lets you change your Gmail address | Infinium-tech
Google is now finally letting you change your Gmail address, the part before @gmail.com. It is currently rolling out only in the US, but is expected to be rolled out to other countries in the near future.
The company has published a quick video embedded below that tells you exactly what you need to do.
Basically, go to your Google Account Settings, and tap Personal Information, then Email, then Google Account Email. You will then see a big blue button that says “Change Google Account Email”. Tap it, and select a new email.
The original address you’re changing will remain on your account as an option, so people emailing you at that address will still be able to contact you. One important caveat here is that you can only make this change once every 12 months – so make sure you like the new email you choose, otherwise you’ll have to wait a long time before you can change it again.
Since this is a Google rollout, keep in mind that it may take a while for it to roll out to all accounts, so if you don’t see the option right away (and you’re in the US), check back in a few days.
