Google clarifies: Android auto-restart security feature isn’t live yet | Infinium-tech
A deep divers in the latest release of Google Play Services yesterday revealed that it is coming with a new security facility, which auto-restarts your phone if it has been locked for three consecutive days.
However, Google has now made it clear that it is not live yet, as it does not have a user interface at this time. It will arrive with the latter update, and when it eventually becomes available, it will be an opt-in facility, so it will not be on default, you have to go to the settings and do it manually if you want it.
It is not clear that it will actually get a UI and really will be usable, but hopefully, soon, later. Apple has cooked something similar in iOS 18.1 last year, and especially if it is opt-in, there is no harm in it.
Once it lands, if you turn it on, it will auto-restart your Android phone or tablet, when it has been locked (thus, but unused) for 72 hours in a row, then it is “put into the state” before the unlock, where the data is enacted and it is more difficult than expected whether the phone is more difficult to enter the ARTTS after the first unlock.
