Global tablet sales up 20.4% in Q3 2024 | Infinium-tech
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), a total of 39.6 million tablets were shipped worldwide in Q3 2024, representing a 20.4% increase year-on-year.
Apple has retained the top spot in the segment with a significant lead over the competition, but with only a modest growth of 1.4% year-on-year. Still, 12.6 million units is nothing to scoff at. Second place in terms of number of units sold goes to Samsung with 7.1 million or 18.3% year-on-year growth. Analysts believe this is entirely due to the commercial success of the Galaxy Tab A9 series.
Amazon and its tablet sales ranked third with 4.6 million unit shipments, but grew by a staggering 111.3% year-on-year. This is mostly attributed to strong Amazon Prime Day sales. Huawei also had a strong quarter with 3.3 million units shipped and 44.1% year-over-year growth. And finally, in fifth place is Lenovo with sales of 3 million units and 14.7% year-on-year growth.
