Entire iPhone 17 family to have high refresh rate screens | Infinium-tech
Apple has so far been successful in gatekeeping high-refresh rate screens for its pro smartphones, even as its Android rivals have brought 120Hz refresh rates to lower-midrange handsets. However, things may finally change next year.
According to a new report, the entire iPhone 17 line will feature ProMotion displays – ProMotion is Apple’s unnecessary trademark for high refresh rate displays.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear whether the iPhone 17 will get a 120Hz refresh rate, as professionals have been enjoying for years now, or whether Apple will try something else and go with 90Hz for the vanilla model. Regardless, it will be a jump above 60Hz and we are all ready for it, even if the move is delayed by several years.
If that happens, the iPhone SE, even the one launching next year, will remain the only new iPhone with a 60 Hz display panel. This sounds more palatable given that this is Apple’s cheapest iPhone, compared to the $799 and up iPhone 16 at 60Hz.
Of course we’re still pretty early in the development cycle for the next generation of iPhones, so things could change, but we’ve already heard about a promotion move for the entire iPhone 17 line, so hopefully it stays that way.
