CR: vivo was the boss in the Chinese market in 2024, Huawei ruled Q4 | Infinium-tech
Last week Canalys released its 2024 smartphone shipment numbers for China and today Counterpoint Research (CR) has done the same. However, the numbers vary considerably.
While Vivo led with 17.8% market share for the year, and Huawei was second with 16.3%, CR reports the third spot is held by Xiaomi with 15.7% of the pie, not Apple. Apple is in fourth place with 15.5%, followed by Honor at second with 15% and Oppo at second with 14.3%.
Xiaomi wasn’t even in Canalys’ top 5, so we’re not sure what’s going on here. Either way, Vivo continued to lead in shipments throughout the year – that’s pretty much a given at this point. Moreover, Huawei was in second place and has the same percentage of the pie.
According to CR, Huawei grew the most with 36.4% growth over 2023, followed by Xiaomi with 10.2% and Vivo with 7%. All other brands shipped fewer units than in 2023, with Apple falling the most (12.6%), followed by Oppo (10.4%) and Honor (2.8%).
If we look only at Q4 (October to December), CR says Huawei took the lead with 18.1%, followed by Xiaomi with 17.2%, Apple with 17.1%, vivo with 16.3%, Honor with 13.6%. % and Oppo led with 12.5%.
Compared to Q4 2023, in Q4, Huawei grew the most (15.5%), followed by Vivo (8%) and Xiaomi (3.9%), while Apple lost the most (18.2%) , followed by Honor (12.8%). Oppo (9.3%).
