ChatGPT could take central role in Samsung’s Galaxy AI on phones | Infinium-tech
According to a report by Reportedly, Samsung and OpenAI are in talks to form a partnership and potentially integrate ChatGPT into Samsung’s Galaxy AI services.
As of now, Samsung uses its own LLM and Google’s Gemini AI to power its Galaxy AI features. It will be interesting to see how ChatGPT fits into all this.
For example, Apple leverages OpenAI’s ChatGPT for its own Apple Intelligence, but only when on-device models are not sufficient for the task at hand. Then the system asks for help from ChatGPT.
We may see a similar implementation in Galaxy AI or use ChatGPT’s service altogether. The report says that both the companies are in the early stages of talks, so it is too early to speculate.
OpenAI has become increasingly competitive towards Google with the announcement of its own search service and is now trying to snatch away Google’s long-term partners like Samsung. The same report claims that OpenAI is also working on a ChatGPT-powered browser. The company has already hired developers who have already worked on Chrome.
