ARM gives up on trying to withdraw Qualcomm’s chip design license | Infinium-tech
Back in October, ARM sent a 60-day notice to Qualcomm, stating that it would eliminate its chip design license. Qualcomm fired back with a trial, which he won in the US federal court in December. However, in that case the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision, which was opening Qualcomm in a possible future court cases by Arm.
Now it seems that none of it is going to happen, and all this was a very strange storm in a tea leaf. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, while discussing the company’s first quarter results, told analysts on a conference call that ARM has now withdrawn its threat to abolish Qualcomm’s license agreement. Here are the words of ammon:
The ARM recently informed us that he was withdrawing the notice of Brech on October 22, 2024, and indicated that there was no current plan to abolish the Qualcomm Architecture License Agreement.
We believe that the strange licensing war is over at the end of 2024, but who knows, the hand can follow with something else. only time will tell.
