Apple’s M4 MacBook Pro display has quantum dots for the first time | Infinium-tech
Apple launched new MacBook Pros with M4 chips late last month, and it looks like they haven’t been the first to talk about upgrades.
According to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the new MacBook Pro has a quantum dot screen. The quantum dot film replaces the red KSF phosphor film used in previous models.
Big Apple display news, they have adopted quantum dots for the first time. The latest MacBook Pro (M4) use quantum dot (QD) film instead of red KSF phosphor film.
In the past, Apple went with the KSF solution due to better efficiency and lack of cadmium (Cd), but… pic.twitter.com/5olq9lEHs9

QD film offers a better color gamut and better motion performance than red KSF phosphor film, and is now also cadmium free. This didn’t used to be the case, and apparently that’s why Apple stuck to the KSF solution until now.
This improvement applies to all new MacBook Pros, with or without Nanotechnology. Keep in mind that newer laptops still have LCD screens, and this QD film won’t make them perform as well as QD-OLED displays, but it’s a small step forward nonetheless.
