Apple to use titanium for its Vision Pro 2 to cut down on weight | Infinium-tech
One of the largest shortcomings of Apple Vision Pro, perhaps only for the price, is the second, weight. Allegedly, Apple is making a lot of effort to reduce it in the second generation. Tipster Refresh On X, Apple planned to do this by including the Titanium in the construction of the Vision Pro2.
After X thread, however, it suggests that Apple will not use titanium for entire chassis, but mostly for internal construction. Outside the headset will still be aluminum, which is painted in black, which looks like “dark graphite blue”, reminiscent of the iPhone 5 era.
In addition, the X post shows that Apple’s next AR headset will probably not be called “Vision Pro 2”, but “vision” or “vision air”, reflecting their new lightweight design.
It will be interesting to see how the Titanium will fit the overall bill as Apple is also trying to reduce the cost of the device with the next recurrence, and the Titanium is very expensive.
