Apple testing a 200MP rear camera for future iPhone, rumor claims | Infinium-tech
While Android smartphones have been offering larger 200MP sensors for some time, Apple has yet to offer a similar sensor on the iPhone. That may soon change, according to a new rumor.
In a post on Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station, citing supply chain sources, claims that Apple is testing a larger 200MP sensor for a future iPhone.

iPhone 17 Pro Max has triple 48MP camera setup
According to the tipster, Apple is evaluating a 1/1.12-inch sensor, with a similar unit expected to come to the upcoming Oppo Find X9 Ultra, which is rumored to have two 200MP cameras. The sensor is said to be tested for the primary rear camera rather than a telephoto lens.
The tipster says the sensor is expected to be commercially available next year, though that doesn’t mean the next iPhone will have a 200MP main camera.
Meanwhile, another upcoming phone, the Vivo X300 Ultra is already confirmed to have a dual 200MP camera setup. It will use a 200MP Sony LYTIA-901 1/1.12-inch sensor for the main camera, along with a 200MP Samsung HP0 sensor for the periscope telephoto.
