Apple is working on a new AirTag and a new HomePod mini | Infinium-tech
Just as Xiaomi is rumored to be getting into the tracker business, Apple is working on upgrading its AirTag. The new AirTags were apparently supposed to arrive this year, but were quietly pushed back to the first half of 2026.
When it arrives, it will bring with it an improved pairing process, improved Precision Finding, and detailed battery level reporting. Additionally, it will have a feature called Improved Moving, which will presumably let you see its exact location even as it moves around. And there is another feature that focuses on improving tracking accuracy in crowded places.

It’s unclear whether these new features will come to the original AirTags via software update, and if so, which ones. Better Precision Finding, for what it’s worth, may depend on an upgraded UWB chip, so that’s probably out of the question for older AirTags.

Apple is also going to upgrade the HomePod Mini soon, but it seems it will only be a chip swap. The new model will use the S10, while the original HomePod mini launched in 2020 has an S5. Even with the new chip, the speaker is unlikely to support Apple Intelligence features.
