Android adds support for digital credentials | Infinium-tech
Google has announced that Android is getting support for digital credentials and release. This is being done with indigenous support for Openid4VP and Openid4VCI standards, which is being integrated within the credential manager of Android.
In addition to this feature, the users will be able to save digital credentials on their devices within any app that supports the digitalcredital API. Apps will also be able to share information with other apps and users can use them to upload credentials or introduce them wherever necessary. For clear security and privacy reasons, transfer will be on encrypted communication tunnels.

Digital credentials are cryptographically verified documents, which may include the user’s driver’s license, passport, or anything from the national ID, but education certificate, insurance policies, membership, permits, and more can be more if technology is more widely adopted. These can usually be provided and stored by specific wallet apps such as Google Wallets, but also airline apps, which want to store meal prize programs of users.
For now, this feature is supported by Google Wallet and is also coming in Samsung wallet and 1password.
