A number of early iPhone 17 Pro adopters face decolorization issues | Infinium-tech
It all started with a few Reddit posts by users reporting strange color changes on their orange iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models. However, more and more cases are being reported now.
iPhone 17 Pro Max color fade in Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue
In fact, Cosmic Orange isn’t the only color affected by this problem. Some owners report a similar discoloration issue with their deep blue iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. The problem appears to start on the camera island, but eventually spreads throughout the aluminum body, leaving only the matte glass in the middle unaffected.
Some users suggest that the problem is caused by UV light outside. Many of those affected reported that their iPhones started fading after being outside in the sun for a while.
So if you miss the rose gold color, you can just take a cosmic orange, leave it in the sun for a while, and you’ll get a one-of-a-kind rose gold iPhone 17 Pro Max. Or so some early adopters would have you believe, we haven’t experienced any issues with our review units.
It’s still unclear how widespread the problem is, and we expect Apple to replace the affected units with new units.
